The Quality of Mercy
Carson Briere, 23, son of former NHLplayer and current GM of the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, launched a student’s wheelchair down a bar stairwell. The wheelchair was left at the top landing because the double amputee owner had to be carried down the stairs to the restroom. The Mercyhurst University junior and varsity hockey player apologized for the incident. A little prevention, common sense, and maturity ought to supplant apologies as a better path to walk. Especially when the target of your sadistic prank can’t.
At his age, Carson should serve as a role model to teammates, who most likely are much younger. Hopefully, he will learn from this mean and contemptuous act, for which TGBL sends Carson Briere to the sin bin for unhuman-like conduct, a two stinger penalty.
