Rice Krispies’ Cracklin’ Good Job
A TV commercial for Rice Krispsie Treats portrays a boy’s ballet aspirations getting some needed encouragement from daddy via a written note on the wrapper’s memo space. His message renews the future Nureyev’s enthusiasm and courage to continue his practice in the female dominated dance studio.
Straight forward and bold, the TV ad stands equally with its football-themed counterpart. Showing a father’s full embrace of his son’s passion for ballet is poignant. Instructive without being pedantic, it speaks to fathers still stuck in a 1950s embarrassment about a son’s tip-toeing pirouettes rather than dancing around linebackers. And to boys and girls whose dreams are on the roads less traveled. One dollop for an ad well done.
